As we flip our calendars to yet another month/year of large-scale pandemic, that has hit us so hard.
Who can think hugging, touching, holding etc will be the real fear
Who can think meeting family, friends, colleague will be a dream
Who can look at anything any more — a door handle, a cardboard carton, a bag of vegetables anything and everything, will need micromanagement.
Who can think ‘being safe’ mantra, will be will be ‘stay at home, hand wash, sanitize and social distancing
On the contrary, spending time with family in (over-)crowded home spaces feels like new adjustments.
How, ever changing external factors are defining our mental health state, despite of knowing the fact, that every day brings forth new hurdles, and you always have to be on guard to dodge these hurdles if you wish to live a relatively smooth, successful most important a peaceful life. Life is all about the continuous effort required for overcoming challenges.
This pandemic is not only affecting us physical but psychological health too. There are times when I feel like giving up, least motivated, and sometimes just, not do anything.
Time like these are demanding consistent motivation for overcoming difficulties in life. It can be difficult to dig deep and find the courage to face challenges, but once you do, that strength never leaves.
Now let’s discuss how can we overcome challenges or challenging time like these;
1. Shift Perspective
Every challenging situation, affects your perspective first. My dad always mentioned it super easy to think negative about any situation, and this mindset leads to overreaction or overthinking.
So try and make conscious effort never let the negativity or negative energy take over, instead focus on the real challenge, ignore the minor inconveniences like you would on a good day. If you let your energy go to waste on such small matters, you’ll be drained of energy before you even begin to figure out how to overcome your challenges.
What are some of the things you’re doing to stay positive and shift perspective to stay productive in these turbulent times?
Here’s mine:
🌱 I’m growing vegetables. Self-sufficiency is not only better for the planet, but eases panic. We could balance out what we consume with what we create, meeting Mother Nature half way.
💰 Plan your financials, investments – read, learn more about it. This is the best time to start.💓 Networking and connecting online. Attend online events, sessions and seminars, trust me it has surpassed expectation. It is actually very similar to face-to-face networking.
💕💕 Working ON hobbies/dreams you had but never got time to think about it. It’s a great time to reflect upon yourself. It can be anything and everything
Feeling Stressed ? Feeling Frustrated ? Take a Walk. It Helps you Clear Your Mind 🤩🤩🤩
2. Observational learning
Someone out there is going through similar circumstances, and possibly even worse and has been through the same challenge but was able to get out of it unharmed. As long as you have an example to see, you’ll have the strong will to continue in the same direction. A real-life example is the best motivation to continue the fight against your life’s hurdles.
3. Help others
How do we find fulfilment in a world that’s constantly changing? simple and powerful question … right?
You will be contributing to the cycle of help while also learning a great deal from their way of tackling a life issue. Moreover, offering a helping hand ensures you’ve got someone you can rely on during your tough times, too.
4. Figure out a Solution
No matter how big of a mountain you think has come in front of you, it won’t kill you. You can reach its top with the small steps you take every day. The next step is, of course, to work on a realistic solution. With a focused goal, you won’t lose your sense of direction amid all the hindrances.
5. Categorize
Learn to compartmentalise so that your brain is trained to keep the good things away from the negative. With an organised mind, you can conquer any challenge that comes to you.
6. Focus on the larger Picture
If you can shift your focus to the larger picture, the minor challenges won’t seem to be an issue. Instead, you’ll make the most of them by learning from every challenging second. Going through a hard time can bring you many benefits if you have the right point of view.
7. Believe in yourself
Trust me, you have lots of strengths as a person, you just need to find out what your motivation style or pattern is……boom…… you know how to stay motivated with the ways that fit you best.
8. Gratitude
When going through tough times in life, think about this for a second and start noticing the things to be grateful for. It will completely change your perspective and realise there are a lot of things to be grateful for … food, home, family, job etc ….
Takeaway
The enormous scale of crisis and impact it is naturally causing a lot of fear, uncertainty and anxiety across country. Be it social isolation, disrupted work and family routines, adjustments and economic instability, and it is understandable that our mental health is suffering. Trust me we all are in same boat.
So what do we do ? Give up ?
Instead focus on these points
– Have faith, everything ends. Whether it’s good or bad, it doesn’t last forever. Either way, things will change.
– Take it as a Learning Experience, most learning in life comes from trial and error. And when things aren’t going the way you want them to go, the best thing is to understand why this is happening, and learn from the experience.
– Stop overthinking and shout out for help whenever needed.
– Learn to take baby steps, Look for the mini victories like health goals, career success, more organised etc etc
You’ll notice that your mindset will begin to shift, you’ll become more positive and you’ll feel better.
Remember!
Resilient people have been shown to use reflection to reframe difficulties and challenges – they often describe problems or challenges as ‘learning opportunities’.
